Vehicle details
This Bel Air generation was Chevrolet’s upper-range passenger car as the brand adopted a lower, wider appearance. The four-door sedan seated six on front and rear benches, with a separate trunk and roomy cabin serving family use. A curved windshield, side decoration and chrome details reflected contemporary American styling. The new 265-cubic-inch V8 offered for 1955 was advertised at 162 gross horsepower with a two-barrel carburetor. A front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and three-speed manual combined everyday passenger-car duties with stronger performance.
