Vehicle details
The Bel Air Sport Coupe was a two-door hardtop with a fixed roof and pillarless side windows. Its roofline sat lower than the sedan’s, while broad glazing and front and rear bench seats provided room for six. The new 1955-model 265-cubic-inch V8 used a compact overhead-valve design that helped reshape Chevrolet’s performance image. The standard V8 paired a two-barrel carburetor with a three-speed manual. Distinctive side trim and available two-tone finishes expressed the character of mid-1950s American hardtops.
