Vehicle details
Introduced for sale in 2009, this Camaro returned the rear-wheel-drive sports coupe after a production hiatus. Its long hood, short rear deck and pronounced rear shoulders reinterpreted the early Camaro’s appearance in a modern form. The two-door body accommodated four, with a driver-focused instrument panel and two deeply set main gauges. The 2010 range offered V6 and V8 engines; the SS with a 6.2-liter V8 and manual transmission produced 426 hp. The automatic V8 differed in output and engine operating features. An independent rear suspension, a first for the Camaro nameplate, let each rear wheel respond separately to road inputs, while the SS added performance-oriented tuning and Brembo brakes. Stability and traction control were standard. Combining the traditional American sports-coupe silhouette with a modern chassis and safety equipment, this was the major generation that re-established the Camaro in the market.
