Vehicle details
The Chevelle Malibu Convertible was the folding-roof model in the original midsize Chevelle family. Two doors and front and rear seats accommodated five, while the opening roof offered a different experience from the sedan. Malibu was an upper-range Chevelle designation at the time, combining a distinct body and cabin arrangement with the same basic engineering. A front engine, rear-wheel drive, separate frame and coil-spring suspension accompanied the base 194-cubic-inch inline-six in the 1964 model. Automatic transmissions and V8 engines were available alongside the standard three-speed manual. It combined midsize family-car room with the open-air character of a contemporary American convertible.
