Vehicle details
Chevelle filled the space between Chevrolet’s compact and full-size passenger cars. The Malibu Sport Coupe distinguished itself with two doors, a fixed roof and pillarless side windows. A front-mounted engine drove the rear axle, with a separate frame and coil-sprung suspension following contemporary American practice. The standard 1964-model inline-six and manual transmission served everyday motoring, alongside available V8 engines. Malibu was an upper-range Chevelle name at this stage, before developing into a separate model lineage.
