Vehicle details
The original Chevelle packaged family-car space in a mid-size body smaller than Chevrolet’s full-size cars. Its four-door sedan accommodated six on front and rear bench seats, with four doors easing access to the back. The design combined a front engine, rear-wheel drive and a separate frame with coil springs. The standard 1964-model 194-cubic-inch inline-six used a single-barrel carburetor and a three-speed manual. Within a range that also offered coupes, open-top cars and wagons, the sedan served everyday family transport.
