Vehicle details
The original Corvette was an American sports car with a long hood, a low two-seat cockpit and a folding roof. Production began in 1953 with fiberglass bodywork, an inline-six engine and a Powerglide automatic driving the rear wheels. Its intimate cabin and flowing body distinguished it from Chevrolet’s regular passenger cars. The first generation later adopted V8 power and fuel injection, developing the performance-oriented character of the Corvette lineage.
