Corvette Sting Ray Convertible

A Sting Ray combining a folding soft top with independent rear suspension.

Selected generation models, including overseas specifications

Vehicle details

The C2 Sting Ray Convertible paired sharp body lines with a folding soft top in a two-seat Corvette. Independent rear suspension replaced the previous generation’s rear axle arrangement, improving the wheels’ ability to follow the road. A separate removable hardtop was available alongside the folding roof. The standard 1963 specification used a 327-cubic-inch OHV V8 and a three-speed manual, with 250 horsepower advertised on the period gross basis. Its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, low body, long hood and concealed headlamps established the Sting Ray’s distinctive appearance.
