Vehicle details
The third-generation Corvette was a two-seat sports car with a long, low nose and pronounced front and rear fenders. Its early coupe used removable T-top panels, combining a fixed-roof profile with an open-air cockpit. Fiberglass-based bodywork accompanied a front-mounted V8, rear-wheel drive and independent rear suspension. The standard 1968-model 327-cubic-inch V8 was advertised at 300 gross horsepower and paired with a three-speed manual. Engines and exterior details continued to evolve during the generation’s long production run as emissions and fuel-economy demands changed.
