Corvette Coupe

A low body and independent suspension developed the C4 Corvette’s handling.

Selected generation models, including overseas specifications

Vehicle details

The C4 Corvette shortened the previous generation’s proportions and substantially revised aerodynamics, structure and suspension. Its fiberglass-reinforced plastic body had a low nose and concealed headlamps; the coupe used a removable roof panel and rear glass hatch. Independent suspension at both ends employed transverse composite leaf springs and aluminum components. The standard 1996 version drove the rear wheels with a 5.7-liter LT1 V8 and a four-speed automatic. Unlike the same-year LT4 manual version, the automatic-only LT1 was rated at 300 horsepower.
