Vehicle details
The original Equinox was Chevrolet’s passenger-oriented crossover SUV that went on sale in 2004. Its car-like structure, long wheelbase and tall roof provided room for five in an alternative to a traditional truck-based SUV. A sliding rear seat let owners trade rear legroom against cargo space. The base front-wheel-drive 2007 version paired a 3.4-liter LNJ V6 with a five-speed automatic, while all-wheel drive was also available. Front MacPherson struts and independent rear suspension supported the chassis, and stability control and four-wheel disc brakes became standard for 2007. A large cargo area and adjustable cabin established the role of the Equinox family in Chevrolet’s compact SUV range for commuting and family travel.
