Vehicle details
The original Lumina was Chevrolet’s midsize front-wheel-drive passenger car introduced in 1989. The coupe shared the sedan’s wheelbase but used two doors, a lower roof and a longer side profile. Front and rear bench seats accommodated six in the base version, combining a personal coupe shape with family-car space. Its engine and transaxle were mounted transversely at the front. The base 1990 model combined a throttle-body-injected 2.5-liter OHV four-cylinder with a three-speed automatic, with V6 engines and other automatic transmissions available. This passenger car had a different body architecture from the Lumina APV minivan that shared its name, and represented Chevrolet’s midsize range at the start of the 1990s.
