Vehicle details
First sold in late 2007, this Malibu introduced a new body and cabin for Chevrolet’s midsize sedan. A long wheelbase and clean three-box form enclosed two front seats and three rear places for five occupants. The base LS for 2010 combined a 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder with a four-speed automatic, while higher grades paired the same four-cylinder configuration with a six-speed automatic. The base and upper grades therefore differed in transmission specification. Front-wheel drive, independent suspension at both ends and electric steering assistance aimed at comfortable, manageable everyday travel. Acoustic laminated glass helped reduce noise, while a split-folding rear seat allowed longer items to extend from the trunk into the cabin. Frontal, side-impact and head-curtain airbags accompanied electronic stability control to support family and commuting use. This body family was a significant generation in re-establishing the Malibu as a central Chevrolet midsize passenger car.
