Vehicle details
Vega was Chevrolet’s small rear-wheel-drive passenger car introduced in fall 1970. A two-door wagon with a long roof and an upright rear end. It retained the passenger Vega’s wheelbase while extending the upper body rearward to emphasize cargo usefulness. Its longitudinal 140-cubic-inch four-cylinder used an aluminum block and an overhead camshaft. The base 1971 engine paired a single-barrel carburetor with a three-speed manual, with a two-barrel engine and other transmissions available. A shorter body and four-cylinder powertrain offered an alternative to larger American cars for everyday transport.
