575M Maranello develops the 550's front-engined, two-seat V12 GT layout. Its naturally aspirated engine grows to 5,748 cc and delivers 515 CV and 588.6 Nm. An electrohydraulically operated F1 gearbox was available, while a rear transaxle supports balanced weight distribution. Electronically controlled dampers and braking controls were also revised. The body retains the long-bonnet, compact-cabin proportions of the earlier car, measuring 4,550 mm long, 1,935 mm wide and 1,277 mm high, with a 2,500 mm wheelbase.
