F40 is a two-seat supercar with a twin-turbocharged V8 mounted behind the occupants. Its 2,936 cc engine uses two IHI turbochargers and intercoolers to produce 478 CV and 577 Nm, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. A chassis combining steel tubes and composite materials supports its low nose, broad rear body and large fixed rear wing. The emphasis on low weight, cooling and direct driver involvement gives it a character distinct from a luxury grand tourer.
