Vehicle details
Introduced in 1969, the Capri adapted the Mustang idea to the European market as an accessible coupe. Its long bonnet, short rear body and descending roofline created a sporting profile while retaining accommodation for four people and luggage. The engine is mounted longitudinally at the front and drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The standard 1.6-litre version uses an overhead-valve inline-four with a crossflow cylinder head. MacPherson struts and coil springs support the front, while the rear axle is located by leaf springs. A broad choice of engines and equipment allowed buyers to tailor the car to everyday transport or a more sporting character.
