Vehicle details
Introduced in 1978, this Capri adopted four round headlamps, a lowered bonnet line and a front spoiler for a sharper appearance. Its glass-panel tailgate is supported by gas struts, while individually folding rear backrests extend the luggage area. The 1.6-litre inline-four uses an overhead camshaft and a carburettor, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. MacPherson struts and coil springs remain at the front, with a leaf-sprung axle at the rear. The range extended from everyday four-cylinder cars to V6 and sport-oriented versions, continuing the Capri’s practical-coupe formula.
