Vehicle details
First sold in 1999, the Excursion is a large SUV designed for passenger transport and towing. It combines body-on-frame construction with three seating rows, while the rear opening uses an upper liftglass and two lower swing-out doors. A removable third row and folding split second row provide flexibility for bulky loads. The rear-wheel-drive 2003 XLT Value with the 5.4-liter Triton SOHC V8 uses a heavy-duty four-speed automatic transmission, Twin I-Beam front suspension and rear leaf springs. Separate powertrain choices included a 6.8-liter V10 and a 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel V8. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, front and rear air conditioning and a large fuel tank support long-distance travel with many passengers and substantial luggage.
