Vehicle details
Entering production in 1998, the original Focus introduced an expressive combination of triangular forms and curves to the compact-car market. Its three-door body has two long side doors and an upward-opening rear hatch, with tall taillamps alongside the rear pillars. MacPherson-strut front suspension and an independent Control Blade rear layout manage wheel movement. The standard powertrain of the 2004 American ZX3 combines a 2.0-liter twin-cam Zetec inline-four with a five-speed manual transaxle. A height-adjustable driver’s seat and useful passenger accommodation within its compact body support its role as an everyday hatchback.
