Vehicle details
Arriving in autumn 1964, this Galaxie generation adopted the new body and frame of Ford’s 1965 full-size passenger range. Vertically stacked headlamps, long horizontal lines and a broad body define its appearance. The four-door hardtop combines four doors with a fixed roof and seating for six across two rows. A longitudinal front engine drives the rear wheels; the 289 OHV V8 uses a two-barrel carburettor. At the rear, coil springs, three control arms and a lateral track bar support and locate the axle. The LTD added more luxurious appointments above the Galaxie 500, widening the choice within Ford’s full-size range.
