Vehicle details
Introduced in 1969, the Maverick is a two-door sedan built around compact dimensions and a straightforward powertrain. Its flowing roofline, round headlamps and separate trunk give it a clean profile. The base 1970 US specification combines a single-barrel-carbureted 170-cubic-inch inline-six with a fully synchronized three-speed manual transmission and column shifter. A split-folding front bench and rear seat accommodate everyday passenger use. A 200-cubic-inch inline-six was available, along with automatic and semi-automatic transmission choices. Broad windows, a simple instrument panel and a relatively small body emphasize basic, practical personal transportation.
