Vehicle details
The Model A arrived in late 1927 as a new mass-market successor to the Model T. Rather than updating the old car, Ford redesigned its body and mechanical layout, with styling influenced by Edsel Ford and the more prestigious Lincoln. A water-cooled side-valve inline-four was paired with a driver-shifted three-speed gearbox and four-wheel brakes. A safety-glass windscreen and hydraulic shock absorbers were notable features in a low-priced car of the period. The open tourer uses a folding roof over the front and rear seats, with exposed cabin sides that reflect the straightforward touring-car layout of its era.
