Vehicle details

Entering production in 2000, this Mondeo brought straight body lines and pronounced edges to Ford’s midsize range through its New Edge design language. The estate extends its roof rearward and is longer and taller than the sedan and five-door, providing a load-oriented body. Roof rails add further height. The 2005 UK LX’s 2.0-liter Duratec HE petrol engine is a 16-valve DOHC inline-four with an aluminum-alloy block and head, electronic multipoint injection and a five-speed manual transmission. The 2.0-liter petrol engine was also available with a four-speed automatic. Other powertrains in the generation included direct-injection SCi petrol engines, common-rail TDCi diesels and V6 petrol engines. The range covered family and business use, from straightforward entry versions to the high-performance ST220.
