Vehicle details
Introduced in 2007, this Mondeo uses Ford’s kinetic design language, with pronounced shoulders, swept headlamps and a large lower air intake. The estate extends its roof rearward and uses a large tailgate for easy access to luggage. Body height differs between versions with and without roof rails. Independent MacPherson-strut front suspension and a Control Blade multilink rear layout support the body, with disc brakes at all four wheels. The 2008 UK Edge’s 2.0-liter Duratec petrol engine is a 16-valve DOHC inline-four with a variable intake system and five-speed manual transmission. Ti-VCT petrol engines, common-rail diesels and a turbocharged five-cylinder were also offered in the body range, covering different family and long-distance driving needs.
