Vehicle details

Entering production in 2000, this Mondeo brought straight body lines and pronounced edges to Ford’s midsize range through its New Edge design language. The five-door matches the sedan’s body length but adds a large hatch opening with the rear window for easier access to luggage. The 2005 UK LX’s 2.0-liter Duratec HE petrol engine is a 16-valve DOHC inline-four with an aluminum-alloy block and head, electronic multipoint injection and a five-speed manual transmission. The 2.0-liter petrol engine was also available with a four-speed automatic. Other powertrains in the generation included direct-injection SCi petrol engines, common-rail TDCi diesels and V6 petrol engines. The range covered family and business use, from straightforward entry versions to the high-performance ST220.
