Vehicle details
Introduced in 2007, this Mondeo uses Ford’s kinetic design language, with pronounced shoulders, swept headlamps and a large lower air intake. The five-door adds a large rear hatch that opens with the rear window, combining a sedan-like silhouette with convenient cargo access. Independent MacPherson-strut front suspension and a Control Blade multilink rear layout support the body, with disc brakes at all four wheels. The 2008 UK Edge’s 2.0-liter Duratec petrol engine is a 16-valve DOHC inline-four with a variable intake system and five-speed manual transmission. Ti-VCT petrol engines, common-rail diesels and a turbocharged five-cylinder were also offered in the body range, covering different family and long-distance driving needs.
