Vehicle details
Arriving in late 1960, this Thunderbird generation adopted a long, rounded body that distinguished it from its predecessor. The two-door fixed-roof hardtop maintained its personal-luxury character with a four-seat cabin and central console. A front-mounted 390 OHV V8 drives the rear wheels through a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic. Power steering and assisted brakes emphasized comfortable control of the large car. The optional Swing-Away steering wheel moved aside to make entering and leaving the driver’s seat easier. A separate convertible offered the same luxury character with an open roof.
