Vehicle details
Introduced in 1994, the Windstar is a family minivan with front-wheel drive and three seating rows. Its sloping windshield and rounded body surround a cabin reached through a passenger-side sliding door and an upward-opening rear hatch. The base 1998 powertrain pairs a sequential-electronic-fuel-injected 3.0-liter V6 with an electronically controlled four-speed automatic overdrive transaxle. It uses MacPherson strut front suspension, a twist-beam rear axle, power rack-and-pinion steering, front disc brakes and rear drums with ABS. It seats up to seven, while removal of the rear seats creates a large cargo area. For 1998, an extended driver door helps access the rear cabin. A variety of seating arrangements and interior storage supports family travel and everyday use.
