Introduced in 2016, IONIQ was Hyundai’s dedicated electrified passenger-car family. A low body, gently sloping roof and rear hatch combined efficiency-oriented design with everyday utility. The original hybrid paired a 1,580cc gasoline engine with electric propulsion and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels. The body family also offered plug-in hybrid and electric versions to serve different charging and driving needs.
