Vehicle details
Introduced in 2000, the SM Santa Fe was an independently developed Hyundai SUV. Its monocoque body placed everyday comfort and stability ahead of the separate-frame approach of a traditional off-roader. Rounded bodywork gave it a distinctive identity within the Hyundai range. The lineup included a 2.0-liter diesel, front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations, and manual or automatic transmissions. Its combination of practical passenger accommodation and SUV packaging established the starting point for the Santa Fe lineage.
