Vehicle details
Introduced in 2001, the HP Terracan was Hyundai’s traditional SUV. Its body sat on a separate frame, giving it a different structural approach from the monocoque Santa Fe. A tall body and relatively upright roofline emphasized interior space and conventional SUV proportions. A representative 2.9-liter inline-four diesel was available with manual or automatic transmission, alongside rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations. The Terracan occupied the more traditional end of Hyundai’s SUV range.
