A family defined by a 46 mm diameter
LG Energy Solution’s 46-series is a cylindrical cell family, not a complete vehicle battery pack. Published formats include 4680, 4695 and 46120, with a common diameter and different heights.
The family combines high-nickel NCMA materials with structural innovations. Cell dimensions and materials are only part of the design; electrical connections, thermal management and safety measures also matter.
From cells to a vehicle pack
A pack combines many cells with protection, cooling and control equipment. The 46-series name alone therefore does not determine a vehicle’s total energy capacity or driving range.
